What is Fraxel?

Fraxel Laser Skin Resurfacing is an amazing laser treatment that effectively changes the texture of most skin types. It is a FDA- approved fractional laser technology to help restore your skin to its original, perfect texture. It achieves smoother, fresher, younger looking skin, improves tone and texture, smaller pores, erases unwanted brown spots, acne scars, and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Most patients see best results with 3-5 Fraxel treatments depending on the condition they are trying to treat.

When Will I See Results?

The results with Fraxel are immediate and continue months after treatment. Since the Fraxel works on your skin’s natural cells to stimulate them to rebuild, results take 1-3 weeks to take effect with maximum benefits seen around 6 months after your last treatment. Soon after the treatment, you will notice the texture of your skin is smoother and more even. Over the next several months, you will notice more improvement of skin’s texture and tone due to collagen building.

Does Fraxel Hurt?

Most patients describe the Fraxel as heat that intensifies during the treatment. It is generally well tolerated after the application of topical anesthesia. Immediately after, patients depend a sunburn which dissipates in a few hours. Patients may experience swelling and redness which depends on how aggressiveness of the treatments.

What Should I Know Prior to My Treatment?

Please also let the provider know if you have a history of cold sores or have ever had an adverse reaction to light or laser treatments in the past. Our providers may suggest medications prior and after treatment for optimal healing.

How do I care for my skin after treatment?

All of the skin care products for the first week after treatment should be gentle and non-comodegenic. Your skin is fragile and sensitive after treatments so sunscreen and decreased sun exposure is an important part of post procedure care. You can expect some peeling of the skin after treatment, so moisturize often with non-irritative and oil free products. You can typically resume wearing makeup and/or SPF immediately after treatment as long as they are gentle. We ask that you avoid any exfoliative treatments, glycolic acids, or Retin-A products after treatments. We will give you in depth aftercare instructions at your appointment and are available to answer any questions as needed.

Am I a Candidate for the Fraxel?
